Chinese pianist Tianqi Du will give a recital of The Goldberg Variations, BWV 988 at the Carnegie Hall on Saturday at 7:30 p.m as part of his 2018 series, The Music of J.S. Bach. This will be his first return to the stage after performed at the National Olympic Stadium of China for the World Cup of Freestyle Skiing Aerials.
Tianqi Du is a 25 year-old young Chinese piano pioneer who started piano solo at the age of 5 and had his recital at 11. As the junior of Li Yundi, Chen Sa, He has been under the apprentice of the renowned piano educator in China, Professor Dan Zhaoyi, since 2004. After receiving numerous awards and recognitions, including the Gold Medalist of Beijing Concerto Piano Competition, Silver Medalist of Asian Chopin International Piano Competition, Chinese Final of the 65th German Steinway Youth Piano Competition, Special Jury Prize at 9th USA and Russia Music Youth Piano Competition, among others, he has moved to professional pianist life with recitals and concertos. He performed with the different orchestras on "The Second Piano Concerto in f Minor", "Grieg Piano Concerto in a minor". The world-famous pianist Arie Vardi also invited him to attend his open class and join a column report of Piano Art.
In 2013, in cooperation with the Iranian movie soundtrack master Peyman Yazdanian, Tianqi Du released Libido Fantasy which combined psychology, arts experiment into his own composition into classical music world. Simultaneously, the music video was directed and acted by Tianqi himself.
The desire to make J.S. Bach's music and philosophy more accessible and to narrow the gap between the renaissance of polyphonic and the audience has inspired Tianqi Du to begin his J.S Bach tour. Two years after his dedication and research into J.S. Bach at the New England Conservatory for his master life, under the apprentice of Meng-Chieh Liu, Tianqi is coming back to stage for his long-awaited show. The Carnegie Hall stop is also belongs to a recital series covering the U.S and China including Boston, New York, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Beijing.
